Canine Physiotherapy in Norfolk
Over the years I have been treating dogs in their homes and I am now excited to be joining together with Dereham Vets to support dogs within the practice.
Similar to my equine practice, dogs are often referred from their vets either for management of long term conditions for example osteoarthritis, or they may have had surgery and require physiotherapy post operation to enable them back to full mobility. If referred via a veterinary practice for a diagnosed condition, consent is first gained from the vet along with their medical history. This allows a multidisciplinary team approach to provide your dog with the best care.
On our initial meeting we will work on building good relationships with your dog to allow a stress free visit. On your visit you should expect a gait assessment which will involve you walking and trotting your dog (if appropriate), this allows assessment of any lameness, muscle asymmetry, reduce range of motion, neurological and proprioceptive deficiency. Once mobility has been assessed, muscle and joint assessment will be completed including any additional neurological tests if required.
Once all the relevant information has been obtained, jointly with owners a plan going forward will be formulated. This will be realistic to owners goals and time restraints. Follow up visits can also be arranged as required for progression and maintence.
If you have an insurance plan, I am happy to provide you with a receipt to send to them to claim back. Payment is expected on the day of treatment via card machine.
As with equine physiotherapy, unlike human practice, the legal requirements to treat animals is less protected. Rest assured I have completed my human undergraduate training to become a Chartered Human Physiotherapist and then went on to complete my Veterinary post graduate training, and continue my professional development to remain registered with ACPAT, this means I have undergone rigorous training to ensure I am able to offer your pet the best.
